OWTY has learned ’95 US-born Maki Tall signed a three year contract with French giants Lille OSC today. Tall, a Washington, D.C. native, came up through the heralded Le Mans Academy, but was looking for a change of scenery and football that could propel him into the European spotlight. Tall signed a three year Pro contract with the club.
Tall’s international future is very much up in the air. Tall is eligible to play for both France and the United States. Over the last season, Tall has been impressive for a talented French U18 side. Tall has been called into a couple US team camps, but conflicts with club football have forced him to decline the USSF offer. OWTY has learned that Tall is still very much open to a US call-up, but Tall tells us that he is happy with how things are progressing with the French youth set-up.
Tall’s game has been often compared to another Le Mans youth product: Didier Drogba. Tall plays center forward, has good strength and a superb touch. Tall tallied over 60 goals for Le Mans over the last three seasons, and hopes to continue his good form for his new club.
