News broke over a week ago that De Anza Force youth star ’02 Joshua Pynadath will join up with the fabled Real Madrid Academy. Pynadath spent time with both Real Madrid and Barcelona Academies before being offered a spot with the Madrid Alevin A squad for the 2013-2014 season.
Here is some video of ’02 American Joshua Pynadath with De Anza Force U11 squad from Spring/Summer 2013.
Pynadath marks the first American to join Madrid’s Academy, however, he is not the only American youth product that is being heavily recruited by Los Blancos.
Last winter, Kansas native Seyam Badr spent multiple months skipping around some of the top European Football Academies, training and getting feedback from coaches and scouts. Badr trained with Borrusia Mönchengladbach, FC Basel, Arsenal FC, Hamburg SV. Manchester City inquired about his services. Word spread quick that the Kuwaiti-American from Wichita was available.
Eventually word reached the Spanish capital that the young American as hoping to join up with a top Academy by his 14th birthday. Real Madrid offered a 2 week training stint to Badr, a life-long Madrid fan.
The ’99 Kuwaiti-American Badr recently finished his training session with the club and will return to the club sometime this fall for further evaluation. Badr spent the entire two weeks training with the Madrid Infantil A (Madrid U14s) and will return to train this fall in hopes of making a second good impression.
Make no mistake though, Badr has a way to go in order to secure a spot within the Academy, yet his progress from the fields of Wichita to training grounds outside the Santiago Bernabeu is something to follow.
