’98 Toni Terell Suddoth close to obtaining US Passport

In 2012 OWTY confirmed first hand that VfB Stuttgart U14 defender Toni Terell Suddoth had deep American roots. “Yes my father is an American, but no one from US Soccer has ever contacted me,” Toni told OWTY in December of 2012. “I would choose to represent the US, but am working hard on obtaining my US passport, something my father is working toward.”

Terell Suddoth spent 2013 mastering the right back position in the VfB Stuttgart academy. He quickly rose through the ranks. He played for both the U15 and U16 squads over the last two years and has even bust into the talented Stuttgart U17 squad a couple of times this season, making Toni the youngest member of the U17 squad for the 2013/2014 season.

OWTY has kept in close contact with Toni following his successful stints with the German U16 National Team. Toni said those camps were challenging and enlightening from a football perspective.

However Toni’s DFB days might be numbered.

Terell Suddoth told OWTY that his US passport is close to being finalized and that he should have all the paperwork in order by July. Toni also re-iterated to OWTY his national team intentions. “I want to play for the US,” Toni told OWTY, however he said US Soccer has still not reached out to him or his father to gauge his interest.

Terell Suddoth is an outstanding lock down outside back who also enjoys getting up and down the flanks. OWTY has talked to a number of people close to the  Bundesliga Jgd. BL Süd/Südwest U16 & U17 game, and Toni is a player these scouts rave about. “Toni is a clone of Real Madrid’s Spanish wingback Daniel Carvajal,” one scout told OWTY, “he will be the right back that the US has always wanted.” “I like to think I play like David Alaba or Marcelo,” Terell Suddoth told OWTY during our interview.

Terell Suddoth would join an already talented US U17 pool of talent. The group of U17 outside backs includes incumbents Hugo Arellano, Alexis Velela, John Nelson and Matthew Olosunde.

Look for Terell Suddoth to join this group and fight for a starting role if US Soccer decides to recruit this top talent.

  1. Come on US soccer. You say you have scouts al over the world. Get this guy in the program. He wants to be a US player now at 16. Not at 21 to get on the USMNT.

  2. He’ll have to work his butt off to win a starting spot on the u17mnt the guys mention on top are the real deal and have lots of experience….

    • great hearing from you! Agreed the starting back four of the U17 squad is legit, always helps to have great battles for starting roles.
