’01 Wilton, Connecticut native Ian Hoffmann made the move from New York Red Bulls 2000 squad to Germany earlier this year. The skillful midfielder has already begun to turn heads in Germany’s most competitive youth divisions.
Hoffmann plays with the Köln U14s who had a successful season in Germany, but it is FC Köln’s exploits against Europe’s best which has seemed to bring out the best in Hoffmann.
In 2015 Hoffmann and his FC Köln U14 squad won the prestigious Zender Talents Cup against the likes Wolfsburg, Hamburg, VfB Stuttgart and FC Metz.
More recently FC Köln recently won the Jenö Konrad U14-Cup. Hoffmann and FC Köln defeated Paris Saint German, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and FC Basel. Almost more impressing is that Hoffmann, one of the youngest players in the the competition was named Player of the Tournament.
The young America is deployed as a secondary forward or prefers to slot into the teams #10 role, a position that won him acclaim this past weekend.
Hoffmann was recently at both USMNT victories in Europe over Holland and Germany and looks to be an important figure in future US Youth National pools.
