West Ham U21 Star Citizenship Update

West Ham U21 star forward ’96 Djair Parfitt has been on fire for the West Ham. His quickness and ability around the goal have been well profiled on American Soccer Now by chief youth expert Josh Deaver and have begun to turn heads in England.

OWTY recently spoke with Parfitt regarding his ability to play for the US. Parfitt needs to be present to officially file his citizenship and his grueling schedule with the Hammers has thus far prevented him from making the trip back to the United States.

Parfitt was clear to OWTY in telling that while he is committed right now to his success with West Ham, he would be interested in playing at an international level for the United States, “Yes, I want to represent them (The U.S.)”.

Despite Parfitt’s exploits at West Ham, sources have told OWTY that US Soccer has not reached out to Parfitt yet.

As a ’96 Parfitt is eligible to play for the US U23 Olympic team and his current form could see him become a candidate as the 2016 Rio Olympics approach.

OWTY will continue to follow Parfitt’s progress.

  1. Joey, any chance of getting an update from Djair on this?

Seems a bit concerning that we haven’t heard any news since August. I was under the impression if he didn’t secure his citizenship by 18 by using his parents time in the U.S. then he would have to accumulate his own.
